Forty7 Forty8 combines womenswear and lingerie into a contemporary collection, honouring heritage whilst promoting female empowerment. The combination of womenswear and lingerie addresses the concept of lingerie as outerwear; promoting female empowerment and sexuality in a sophisticated and elegant manner. This concept has allowed for the development of a collection where the lingerie and womenswear garments are interchangeable, amounting to a variety of alternative outfits from the twelve look collection.

Combining wool with satin and lace allows for the development of a collection which contrasts the connotations of the fabrics selected (as wool is perceived as utilitarian and resilient whilst satin and lace are delicate and opulent) with feminine and voluminous silhouettes, amounting to a collection with an elegant yet striking aesthetic.

Forty7 Forty8 adopts a sustainable approach to sourcing all materials required for the collection, addressing the slow fashion movement and ethos surrounding this. A prominent focus on Yorkshire Wool directly references the collections concept whilst promoting textiles produced in the county. All additional fabrics, trims, fastenings and hardware have been sourced from within Yorkshire or the Untied Kingdom, supporting local and British businesses.
